With our Candidate PAC, CPRS has a tremendous opportunity, especially now with the budget crisis in the state to affect our legislative program. Over the past five years the PAC has raised funds through donations and our golf tournament, and we now have a balance of approximately $75,000. Please consider making a personal donation (no public funds may be given to the PAC) so our Legislative Advocate team, the Houston Group, and CPRS can promote the value of parks and recreation to legislators.

As California heads into the lazy days of another summer, not much is new at the Capitol – the weather is hot, tourists stroll the grounds and legislators have skipped town leaving yet another budget undone. But inaction on a budget and $19.1 billion deficit has its consequences. State vendors, community colleges and some county programs will stop receiving payments, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has ordered state employees salaries to be cut to minimum wage.
